Version 1.0, last updated 28 October 2026
The short version
- You must be 18 or over and a parent or carer.
- Be honest and respectful. Never use the app to harass anyone.
- Shared records can't be edited or deleted, by you or by us.
- We're not a law firm and don't give legal advice.
- Cancel any time. Safety features stay free.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and BothWays for Coparents, the name under which an independent developer makes and runs BothWays. By creating an account you accept them. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle your data, and our Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms.
Who can use BothWays
- You must be 18 or over.
- You must be a parent, step-parent, guardian or carer with a real role in the children's lives.
- Professionals, such as mediators and solicitors, don't have accounts. A parent can give one a read-only link for a set time, and every view is logged.
If a court order stops you contacting the other parent, you must not invite them or use the app to contact them.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details private and turn on two-step sign-in. Tell us straight away through Support in the app if you think someone else has used your account. One account is for one person only.
Shared records
Messages, schedule changes and shared costs form a sealed record that both parents can see. Nobody, including us, can edit or delete entries in it. Each entry is timestamped and linked to the one before, so any change would show.
Exports are accurate copies of what's in the record. Whether a court accepts them, and how much weight it gives them, is always for the court to decide.
Using it fairly
- No threats, harassment, abuse or hate.
- Don't pretend to be someone else, or add false information.
- Don't use "urgent" unless it's about a child's health or safety.
- Don't share court papers with people the court rules don't allow.
If you break these rules, we may limit or close your account. We'll keep the record intact so nothing is lost.
No legal advice
BothWays helps you organise and record co-parenting. It isn't a law firm and doesn't give legal, financial or medical advice. Tone suggestions are optional and you decide what you send. For advice about your situation, speak to a solicitor or mediator.
Paying and cancelling
- BothWays is free during early access, with every feature on. We'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before paid plans start, and nothing is ever charged unless you choose a plan.
- When paid plans start, the Family plan will cost £4.99 a month or £49 a year and cover both parents.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings at any time.
- You have 14 days to change your mind after your first payment, for a full refund.
- If we change the price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before it applies.
Safety mode, quick exit, pausing contact, reporting, evidence packs, access to your records, and downloading or deleting your data never need a paid plan.
Our responsibility to you
We work hard to keep BothWays available and secure, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted. We're responsible for losses caused by us breaking these terms that were foreseeable. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or our liability for death or injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
If we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can close your account and download your data.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first through Support in the app, and read our Complaints Procedure.
